“The book is better!» #2
The last time you read fairy tales? I assume that most of you left books with fairy tales on a shelf called “Childhood” and have never touched them again. Of course, someone has children and therefore they are now reading fairy tales to them for the night, but I’m talking about a meaningful desire to read a fairy tale for myself. When a person grows up, the simplicity and naivety of fairy tales becomes uninteresting to him. Growing up, we see that the real world is much worse and more insidious than the majority of fairy tales describe to us, where the forces of good prevail. We may also not like their language, because most fairy tales are focused on children’s understanding, so they are written quite straightforwardly and do not give the spaciousness of the interpretation of the meaning. The child perceives directness and simplicity with interest, the adult, while, believes that he described in a fairy tale is already clear to him.
However, I like fairy-tale stories and I do not mind reading some kind of fairy tale, maybe even at night. So I met with the creation of Roald Dahl “Inexpensive Mr. Fox”. Before that, a small one, from a part of a child’s story, I did not touch the work of this writer, so the tale of the fox and his family was the beginning of familiarization with his work.
The film adaptation of the story “Inexpensive Mr. Fox” is a puppet cartoon that made me happy. Perhaps because I have a younger brother who directly affects the choice of content suitable for viewing in the family circle, I not only get used to cartoons, but also enjoy watching them, despite my age. I have a positive attitude to the animated fairy tales, whether it is the “Snow Queen” (I mean the Soviet cartoon), “Bremen musicians”, “Wizard of the Emerald City”. This can be explained by the interest in the cornfield of the fairy tale Roald Dahl. The director of the painting by UES Anderson doubled interest, since after watching the Hotel Grand Budapest, I was interested in looking at his work.
After reading the fairy tale and watching the film, I came to the conclusion that for me these are completely different works, and I can not compare the film adaptation with the original source.
The book and the film are different from each other, not so much plot as genre, and this follows a different attitude to history as a whole.
The only question that I have for the film: where is the OPSSUM?
History tells us about Mr. Fox – Lisa, who, together with Mrs. Fox and four foxes live in a hole under a tree. Near this hill there are three farmers, in whom Mr. Fox steals food for his family. This fact is upset by farmers and they decide to kill the fox as a murmur of justice. Well, the retelling of the plot is not the most important thing. The main thing is that as a result of all events, a fantastic example of masculinity, cunning and responsibility is given to us. Fairytale fox, first of all, the husband and father, who to take care of his family, but does not forget that he is a “wild beast”, a male, a man.
In a fairy tale, the image of a fox is an image that serves as a great example for boys. Fox, like a real man, having arranged a problem, himself finds a way out of it, while even in many ways improving the old situation. The character of the fox can be judged by the question that he asks Mrs. Fox before hunting, that she wants him to bring. Self -confidence and animal energy are the main features of his character.
However, there is also betswagger casino the image of Mrs. Fox, which is a great example of a wife and mother for girls. She always keeps her husband within the borders of prudence, and praising his ego and admiring him that this fact is so much attached to the Fox to the family.
The fairy tale looks like a comprehensive work that is easy to read, and most importantly suits any age. Why? The creative potential of Roald Dahl plays a role here. The first lines of fairy tales meet us with such a statement about farmers living in the valley:
It is unlikely that the child will understand this phrase, but I think it is ridiculous. The child will understand the meaning of history, as well as as I said above, the book for him is a positive example. Adults, the humor Dahl and a certain reality of history will be interesting, no matter how strange it sounds.
However, the film cannot be advised to the viewer of any age. The story tells Wes Anderson is more suitable for adults. The realities that were shown in the book become more saturated and bright. For example, an alcoholic rat that lives in a bin cellar became just a soldered “gopnik”. If in the book she only acted on the heroes on the nerves of the screech and calling them, then the rat from the film is brutal, and most importantly is really dangerous.
Rat for adults.
Generally big changes have occurred with the main character. Mr. Fox is now not an exemplary father and husband, Mrs. Fox herself even speaks of this: “. But I was in vain for you?”. However, his savagery and animal energy is that that makes him fantastic. He always remains himself, in any situation. Also, compared with the original source, it should be noted that in the original the fox steals among farmers to feed his family, and in the cartoon he does it on purpose, from personal motives.
The heroes of Andres are beyond the scope of the fairy tale, they are more complex, more humane. There are anthropomorphism of the image of animals in the primary source, but it is in the film that this technique is revealed to the full.
Examples of the manifestation of the animal beginning of characters add comic situations of situations.
Andreson, in my opinion, did not just take a certain vitality of the fairy tale and showed it in the cartoon, he developed a humorous component, diversified some subtexts. A respectable badger, has turned into a lawyer who, in principle, carries the word of the law, but lawyers quite often protect dishonest people, which adds duality to the character.
Also, the elaboration of images is expressed in the fact that most heroes have their own past, about which we learn casually, through dialogs. Dialogs in the film are very unusual and bring a large share of the comedic effect.
I want to say thanks to the “dog handlers”, and especially Dmitry for explaining the features of Andreson’s work. When viewing, the techniques that he honed in this cartoon and, which completely opened to the “Grand Budapest Hotel” are noticeable.
The picture in the cartoon is very flat. Also, when viewing, working with the prospect is visible, which adds theatricality and chamber.
As a result, and Personally, it hurts me to admit this, I will note that you should give preference to the second choice and film (The book is better!), If you are not seven or ten years old, because the adult viewer will be interested in the cartoon. However, a fairy tale is a universal story suitable for any reader, but as Dal himself notes, which is more than three years old.
